Corinna Kenyon-Wade says, ‘I aim to make finely thrown, functional pots in simple shapes, from stoneware and porcelain clays. Currently I am developing a palette of colours using the Chinese celadon glaze as a base, ranging from subtle blue green to vibrant citrus and lilac. Interaction of clay and glaze adds to the character of a pot; while porcelain keeps colours bright, grey stoneware mutes the glaze and flecks it with iron. A pot suggests a glaze and a glaze a pot, and the work quietly evolves.’ The work is fired in a gas kiln in a reduction atmosphere.
She first trained as a painter then worked as a stone and wall painting conservator before completing an H.N.D. in Studio Ceramics in 2002. She has shown her work in a joint exhibition at Galanthus Gallery in 2009 and at Hereford Craft Fair in 2010.
