Nicola Haigh makes textile fascinators, hairslides and brooches working from her studio near Ludlow. Her work is primarily based on nature, she is fascinated by the colours and textures in nature. She says, ‘I try to capture the simplicity of a single moment of reflection and the vividness within it.’
Nicola Haigh was born in Birmingham in 1954. She graduated from Manchester University then taught art for over thirty years. Beginning with photography and drawing she creates her work using combinations of silk batik, watercolour, textiles and combinations of these on canvas, silk and paper. She makes silk batik scarves as well as the fabric brooches and fascinators. She exhibits in Ludlow, Hereford and her local area, as well as running short courses in watercolours, silk painting, batik and textiles from her studio. Her recent work involves stitch with watercolour.
